How important is it to you where your "stuff" is made? Do you check the origins of your products? Does quality win over price? Or vice versa?
As a quality conscious buyer for my store, I am constantly concerned with the origins of my products. I would say 80% of my products are not made in Asia. And this is important to me because it is important to my customers.
Recently, I informed of a really cute line of tea cups and I was really excited to learn they were from Toronto, Canada but really disappointed to know that their entire line of products was made in China. They were, in fact, very reasonably priced for the public. Is there an exception to the rule and why can't we have both?
In the past few years there have been many toxic scares coming from the quality un-control from China.
Living in Italy has given me this perspective of quality that when I lived in the US I didn't think twice about. Italians are really conscious buyers, I would say. The "Made in Italy" label is taken pretty seriously around the world, but at the same time a joke in Italy. Some factories employ illegal immigrant workers. It is sad to hear about these occurrences and misleading to the consumer that buys. But I still believe in quality made "stuff" being made in lesser known countries.
