I get so happy when people come into my store with smiles from all the explosively colorful products that they see. They start to get this twinkle in their eye and begin, almost right there and then, to plan out how to redo their house using Nordic designs. This is what makes everything worth while.
But how exactly did the northern companies become inspired with all this color when 4 months out of the year they are covered in darkness with -20 weather? Maybe it is being forced to stay inside for so much time they long to make their interior environment just as gorgeous as their 20 hour summer days they get in July.
I ponder this today as we have received a few centimeters of snow and most of us would probably not rather not take one step outside.

As being born in Finland and lived there for years before moving here I can say that your photos are great. But it's not the white scenery which makes people think summer and colorful things it's the time before the snow in October, November and December when it's very dark, windy, rainy and days are short and there is no snow, yet. And after winter every Finn is waiting for Spring and Summer like lottery win to be able to see colorful nature, sea, lakes and sun 12-20 hours a day. Thanks for the photos now when it's snowing in Umbria, unfortunately :)
I imagine every Finn appreciates their beautiful Spring and Summer just that much more when it comes!
