Helsinki, Finland 2010

Today I remember our trip to Helsinki in 2010 because it is so cold right now. It was in the summer and it was a few months before we opened our store on September 25th.

We didn't actually go there to play, but rather for business. We were hosted by Marimekko and it was our chance to see Finland at it's finest. They gave us the grand tour of their fabric printing facility, sewing mockup room, and preview area for the new lines of clothing and all home interiors.

I was so excited! The next day they took us to Suomenlinna Sea Fortress where we ate a wonderful Finnish meal, right down to the after dinner liquor...Mesimarja made from artic brambleberry.

We did manage to fit in a few days to go site-seeing, eat some absolutely incredible salmon, and take a little ferry trip across the Baltic Sea to Tallinn, Estonia.

I took a million pictures (like always) of the colors, sites and sounds that inspired me at that moment.
